Advanced metrics (via mobile app)– For the first time, FIFA has an app for players, which provides them with all the data captured in real-time. This data includes a detailed analysis of on-pitch happenings.

The Al Rihla ball – The tech ball comes with a measurement sensor at its center that can assist in making the right offside calls and can send the gathered data at a speed of 500 times/second.

Better offside technology– All stadiums in Qatar are fitted with numerous cameras that can send up to 29 data points for each player 50 times per second. All this is expected to facilitate in calculation of their precise position.

AI to assist the referee– One more attempt is made to add more layers to data that dictate decision-making for close calls, be it offsides, goals or penalty decisions.

At least, in theory use of technology should enforce correct decision-making while making the game fair and just for everyone. Whether that turns out to be true or not- that is yet to be seen!
