I generally have no issues while expressing my thoughts in writing but got so irked by the grammarly adverts on youtube that I ended up downloading it- only to figure out that the actual usage is more annoying than the advert.
Here is what I think is wrong about that product and their marketing strategy:
- I am using their free version and more than helping me improve my writeup, it tells me what I am missing by not having a paid subscription. 👿👿
- They are literally EVERYWHERE- so annoying, and unrelatable. I mean who laughs while writing those long and crazy academic reports!
- Their sentence correction mostly seems to remove the human element and wants to make it sound flat. They don’t understand that sometimes I want the sentence to be wordy to put my emotions across.
- Most (if not all) of the applications have an inbuilt spell-check and auto-correct feature. They don’t kill the elephant in the room by pointing out upfront what is their USP!
I’ve found that reading more than you write is a better tool for improving your writing than any software you could find, especially Grammarly!
